Why Aren’t Businesses Promoting Clean Anymore?
When was the last time you heard anyone say “Wow! This place is really clean!” We are all too familiar with slogans like “Always In Stock” and “Guaranteed Lowest Prices.” Slogans like these hold a business accountable. They better live up to the claim. If they don’t then their image is damaged in the public eye. But you no longer see businesses promoting clean. Read more
Cleaning Humor – Port-a-Toilet
I have always been one that hates hand written signs on restroom fixtures. When a toilet is out-of-order, just state that it is out-of-order. When I catch you lying to me about why it isn’t in service, it makes me wonder. Is this just reserved for important people? Did the guy with the key just say “I’ll save this one for myself.” or “I am going to catch a few minutes of shut-eye. I’ll just take this one out of commission for a while.”
What ever the reason, it was frustrating to see when the line was as long as it was.
Cleaning humor at it’s finest!
A while back, we took a trip to Minneapolis to visit family. While we were there, we had an opportunity to visit the world-renowned Mall Of America. All I can say is “Wow!” This place is huge! From the indoor amusement park to the seemingly unending selection of stores and restaurants, the Mall Of America lives up to its reputation as one of the modern wonders of the world. What really impressed me though was the amount of cleaning. But is more cleaning the answer? Read more

Cleaning appearance is what we are judged on. But is that the reason we clean? There is a lot of attention paid to teaching a cleaning staff how to clean. This is usually centered around the proper use of tools and products. There are some carpet cleaning methods that have become widely accepted but when broken down, just don’t make sense. Carpet cleaning, in my opinion, is one of them. Carpet is a difficult surface to keep clean. It is very dynamic and is actually an air filter for most buildings, capturing and holding a lot of microscopic debris from the air. It is estimated that the average carpet will double in weight over its lifetime because of accumulated soils. This makes all aspects of keeping it clean very important, but with the true nature of how carpet is made, we struggle to understand what is really going on when carpet is cleaned. In my last post, I discussed carpet cleaning chemicals and why more is really not Continue Reading
It seems getting stains out of carpet is a popular mystery. I was standing in line at a local grocery store today where there was a lady in front of me talking to the cashier about carpet cleaning. Her items included several carpet cleaning products, a bottle of vinegar, and a very puzzled look on her face.
She was explaining that she was trying to get some pet stains and odors out of her carpet. Both of them were passing tips back and forth that they had heard were good ways of cleaning carpets. It was obvious that they were both confused by all of the so-called “advice” that had been given. Not one to miss out on an opportunity to help, I jumped into the conversation with both feet and explained to them what was really going on. About 20 minutes later, they both thanked me for the information and the lady who was buying the products even followed me into the parking lot, continuing to ask questions. Read more
